Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise (CNE), a nonprofit housing organization, was born out of Vision 2000 – Chattanooga’s glimpse into its future – a future that would include comprehensive neighborhood revitalization at the center of its vision for improving housing conditions in the city. CNE opened its doors in 1986 with a mission to provide all Chattanoogans the opportunity to live in decent, fit and affordable housing and, in the process, eliminate substandard housing in Chattanooga.
CNE programs help families navigate the home-buying process and empower many Chattanooga homebuyers to become successful, lifelong homeowners. CNE provides the classroom instruction and guidance that first-time homebuyers need in order to purchase a home, build family wealth and become stakeholders in the future of their community.
Since our founding in 1986, CNE has helped over 3,400 individuals and families purchase homes. The organization has also provided home improvement loans and technical assistance with home repairs to over 2,800 homeowners. For nearly a quarter of a century, CNE has been a vital partner with Chattanooga, improving lives, strengthening communities and improving the quality of life in our city.
The mission of Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise is to build and sustain livable neighborhoods by providing homeownership education and counseling, providing affordable loans, working in partnership with like-missioned organizations, and encouraging neighborhood engagement.
