Pre Purchase Counseling

CNE is nationally recognized for its track record in creating successful homeowners. We believe that the keys to this success are our counseling and education programs. All of our counseling and education classes are free (except for the FasTrak® class which has a $100 fee).

Counseling

Short Term Counseling - Individualized assistance to guide customers on how to clear short-term (six months or less to resolve) credit problems.

Long Term Counseling - Consumer Credit Counseling negotiates with creditors to clear credit problems. We refer customers whose financial situation will take over six months to resolve.

Education

The FasTrak® to Homeownership© program is CNE's customized pre-purchase education program endorsed by the FHA. It is an 8-hour seminar that educates homebuyers on getting ready for homeownership. It also teaches them about budgeting, their credit and what is involved in underwriting. Homebuyers are taught how to search and find a home and what is involved in the financing, mortgage, and closing process.

By requiring certain customers to participate in this seminar they are assured to have all the tools necessary to become successful homeowners. If after participating in the FasTrak® course these potential homeowners still don't feel prepared for home ownership, they can participate in a counseling program that leads them through the process of reducing their debt, saving for a down payment, and budgeting for an impending move.

CNE's pre-purchase preparation has empowered groups of homebuyers who would have typically been considered high risk by most lending institutions. The results are low delinquency ratios and lasting home ownership.
